What's On HK

WEEKENDER: Poho Bazaar, Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere & giveaway, Cameo pop-up shop and more!

7 December, 2012

We hope you all got your groove on at Clockenflap… and now the clock’s definitely counting down to Christmas! It’s time to hit Hong Kong’s line-up of holiday fairs and pop-up shops – and if you haven’t shopped ‘til you’ve dropped, there’s plenty of other cool events for a well-deserved shopping time out!

Young at heart!
Fancy taking a breather from all the festive madness? Then pop into Identity Art Gallery in Sheung Wan to check out The Magical Kingdom of Illustration Exhibition. You’ll be transported back to your childhood by beautiful illustrations inspired from all-time favourite storybooks like Where the Wild Things Are, Elmer The Elephant and Alice in Wonderland – after all, however old we might get, we’ll always be young at heart! We reckon this is the perfect activity for a weekend stroll in between all your frantic Christmas shopping. Original artworks are available for purchase and start at $8,000.

When: Until 15 December, 10.30am-7pm
Where: Identity Art Gallery, 53 Tung Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
How much: Free! For more information, email [email protected]

Party in PoHo!
Whilst you’re in the area, how about heading over to Po Hing Fong (or PoHo as the locals call it!) to celebrate the first ever PoHo Bazaar! Meet the creative minds who own many of the unique cafés, boutiques, galleries and design studios in the area (including Sassy faves Teakha, Secret Ingredient, The Genie Concept, The Cat Street Gallery and Konzepp), which are fast turning PoHo into the hottest neighbourhood in town! There will be street bands, craft beers, artisanal sodas, imported wine and a scrumptious BBQ (including delish beef sliders and California pulled pork!) for food and fun all day long – sounds like the best kind of street party to us!

When: 8 December, 2-8pm
Where: Po Hing Fong; area extends from Hollywood Road, behind Man Mo Temple, including Tai Ping Shan Street, Sai Street, Upper Station Street, Tung Street and Cat Street
How much: Early bird tickets $198, buy online here, on premises $238; includes 2 food and 6 beverage coupons

Walk the red carpet!
Team Edward? Team Jacob? Well, you’ll have to make your mind up fast as the final instalment of The Twilight Saga is nearly here – and you can be the first in HK to see it at this special star-studded premiere for Breaking Dawn: Part 2, with all proceeds going to the FilmAid Asia charity. Cast members Elizabeth Reaser (Esme Cullen) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius of The Volturi) will be walking the red carpet and meeting fans, whilst you can also catch a glimpse of Campbell Bower’s actress girlfriend Lily Collins, star of Mirror Mirror.

SASSY GIVEAWAY: We have one pair of tickets to give away for this special preview screening and a super exclusive VIP pre-cocktail meet-and-greet with Elizabeth and Jamie! The giveaway has now ended and the lucky Sassy winner is Tammy!

When: 12 December, 7pm red carpet, 7.30pm screening
Where: The Grand Cinema, Elements, 2/F, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon Station, Hong Kong
How much: $400 with all proceeds going to FilmAid Asia, buy online here
