WEEKENDER: Beertopia, Bliss Spa Cafe, Liberatum & More!

27 April, 2012

Who was clever and remembered to book Monday off work? Well, you lucky sorts have managed to snag yourself a long weekend… the rest of us will just have to make do with Tuesday off instead! As ever, there’s plenty to keep you busy, long weekend or not – so here are our picks!

Down it!
There’s no denying we’re fans of a quality cocktail but we’re willing to swap tipples for the sake of Beertopia, Hong Kong’s very first real beer festival! With over 90 beers to sample (including craft beers from around the world), plus food, live music and games (beer pong anyone!), just be thankful it’s not a work day afterwards! Want to know more? Get the Sassy scoop on why craft beers are not just your regular pint here!

When: 28 April, 12-11pm
Where: 2/F, Western Market Building, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
How much: $250 or $300 (includes drink, token and tasting glass); buy online here

Pet it
We’re animal lovers here at Sassy so we’re big supporters of the SPCA and all the great work they do for our four-legged friends! In the run-up to next week’s annual Adoptathon, they will be holding a Pre-Adoptathon Carnival for you to learn a bit more about the cause, with fun and games, charity stalls, education booths and more information and stories about adopting pets from the SPCA. Feel free to bring along any four… or two… legged friends to join in!

When: 28 April, 2-5pm
Where: East Point Road (outside SOGO), Causeway Bay, Hong Kong
How much: Free; proceeds go to SPCA

Party down
Club night juggernauts Hed Kandi are heading into town to put you in the mood for a summer party at PLAY. Hed Kandi Classics comes with a dress code of glitter and gold and awesome Hed Kandi DJ Krystal Roxx on hand with some fabulous feel good beats and exciting electro vibes – you’ll be tearing up the dance floor in no time!

When: 3 May, 10pm til late
Where: PLAY, 1st Floor, On Hing Building, 1 On Hing Terrace, Central, Hong Kong
How much: $250 in advance, $380 on the door (both include one complimentary drink); book tickets here

Stay in style
Fingers crossed for another sunny weekend… we’re planning a little shopping spree to check out all the fashion comings and goings round town (check our mini round-up here to see what’s new… and don’t forget to snag your Sassy Deals whilst you’re spending!). We’re also planning on stocking up on some of MAC’s new metallic make-up collection before it sells out (which it always does!) and then making a pit-stop at the pop-up Bliss Spa Café for one of their signature brownies… after all that shopping, we’ll have earned one! Well, that’s our excuse anyway!
Get cultured
Forget Gaga (you never wanted tickets anyway… right?!), cultural festival Liberatum is hitting HK with a line-up of amazing guests and an eclectic programme to stimulate your senses and open your mind! Some of the participants include DJ and producer extraordinaire Pharrell Williams, author VS Naipaul, Italian Vogue editor-in-chief (and occasional ANTM cameo) Franca Sozzani, film director Mike Figgis, producer and musician William Orbit, local faves Khalil Fong and Daniel Wu… and far too many more to name!

When: 27-29 April; see full programme here
Where: The Lane Crawford Joyce Group at ONE ISLAND SOUTH, 2 Heung Yip Road, Wong Chuk Hang, Aberdeen, Hong Kong
How much: Free, no tickets required

P.S. Don’t forget to get your last-minute entries in to win a gorgeous Tangram necklace from our latest That Girl Paola (scroll to the end of the interview to see how to win)!
