We’ve tried and tested some well-priced places in Wan Chai that you can head to for under $60 – so if you’re trying to save a few cents and you’re bored of your Pret A Manger sandwich, check out some of our suggestions.
For any of you who have read Charlotte’s Top Veggie Restaurants article, you’ll know that Happy Veggies is one of Wan Chai’s best-kept secrets. Conveniently located on Hennessy Road, Happy Veggies offers a fantastic, healthy meat-free lunch set for $48 – this will get you two dishes, rice, soup and dessert. Happy Veggies is always pretty busy for lunch but it’s worth waiting in the quick-moving queue to experience one of our favourite eateries in Hong Kong.

Famous for its pastries and sweet treats, Passion Bakery also boasts a great salad bar, quiche selection and sandwich offering. A soup and sandwich combination comes in at $60, but I’d recommend trying one of their well-sized quiches if you can battle your way to the front of the queue – this place is popular for a reason!

Tai Tai Pie Pies
Ok, so not a restaurant, but Tai Tai Pie Pies has something for everyone and is perfect if you need to dash back to the office for a desk lunch! With a big selection of sweet and savoury (and enough for the veggies out there!), this is a perfect one-stop shop for a rushed lunch that comes in at under $60.

Great Food Hall
We’re aware that this is Admiralty, but we see so many Wan Chai office people in Great Food Hall that it warrants a mention! If you work in West Wan Chai, we have to recommend taking a stroll to Admiralty for Great’s salad, sushi and soup selection. We mourned the loss of ThreeSixty, but Great’s revamp has helped us get over that and we’re regulars for the $49 salads and $60 sushi!

Hay Hay Kitchen
Hay Hay’s isn’t just for late night snacking after a night of partying on Lockhart Road (we’ve all been there) – the food tastes just as good over lunch too! Perfect for when you are feeling slightly delicate, we’re fans of the Cha Siu Fan and Vegetable Ho Fun.

Bao Wow *CLOSED*
We are huge fans of these delicious baos (plus the incredible sides and sweets on offer!). Two baos (tofu, meat or fish) come in at $58, which is a bargain. Admittedly, the sides cost a little extra but it’s worth the dollars and the calories. The space is super cool and the staff is very friendly – Bao Wow is going to be a regular haunt for sure!
