RENEW YOUR SKIN AND REPLENISH YOUR BEAUTY BAG AFTER SUMMER!

Summer holidays are coming to an end, and that means we must all get back to work. It’s time to find those wonder beauty products that will heal your skin from the past few months. You know what I’m talking about: the deeply embedded sunscreen, the over-baked tans, the peeling nails and drinking one too many margaritas… never fear, as I have a beauty remedy for nearly all your concerns. Let’s take a look at what I discovered during the past month – these have been my favourite go-to products!

dolce-and-gabbana-skincare-aurealux-mask beauty picks1. D&G Aurealux Beauty Mask
Want to get your skin looking great whilst scaring the life out of anyone you live with? Then this is for you! My skin was feeling quite dry and dull after so much time in the sun, so I popped this on post shower. As soon as I opened the packaging, I could smell the lovely, gentle scent of the mask. It was rather gooey as I unfolded it, but very simple to apply. Instructions said to leave it on for ten minutes but I loved how cooling and rich textured it felt on, so I went for twenty. I slowly peeled it off and moved it down to my neck for another ten minutes to complete the session. Once done, I tissued off the remaining moisturiser and marvelled at the results. My skin was visibly hydrated and ready to take on the long haul plane ride ahead.

Tip: Warn your loved ones before hand as you will surely scare them with this on… Also, be sure to pull your hair back and wear a headband or towel so as not to get the product in your hairline.

15333052. Burts Bees Citrus Facial Scrub
So this is not really a new beauty find, but a beloved classic that I just had to share! Burt’s Bees Citrus Facial Scrub is a little jar filled with a thick, gritty scrub perfect for refreshing and revitalising your skin and scrubbing away all those peeling layers. I keep mine in the shower and use it around three times a week. You will notice that it’s very thick… almost like dark, sandy putty. Don’t let the colour or texture scare you though! Just scoop out about a teaspoon worth and add a touch of water to it. Then work it into your palms and scrub over your face and neck. Be sure to get your lips! The citrus scent is less wake-you-up-grapefruit and more winter’s-night-spice with cloves and orange peel. There is a reason that I have been using this product for over ten years!

sally hanson beauty picks3. Sally Hansen Miracle Nail Thickener
After four consecutive gel manis, my nails were left dry, cracked and peeling. I needed some TLC for my digits – pronto. Thankfully, I spotted this in the store and gave it a go. You apply this again and again over the course of several days, which builds up the thickness. This in turn manages to make your nails thicker – I did two coats on the first go, then one coat every two days, every other day after. At the end of a week my nails were tougher to the touch and peeling far less. Use it as a base coat under colour if you prefer.

jergens beauty picks4. Jergens Natural Glow Moisturiser
This summer I had two beach trips, but with a little one now in tow I didn’t get to chill on the sand as much as I had planned. What’s my secret to a great summer glow? Jergens Natural Glow Moisturiser! I used to use this when it came out around ten years ago, but always hated the smell. Now the formula is revamped and better than ever with the chemical smell nearly gone! I only noticed it a bit the next day, but it didn’t bother me at all. I applied it three days in a row and was thrilled with the results. The face version is perfect as after a few uses I was able to forgo foundation, allowing me to walk out the door in a snap. Even my better half said I looked great with the tan. Did he notice how fast it had happened or did he think it was au natural?! Either way… I didn’t fess up. Be sure to use the right shade for your skin tone though, as I tried out the medium to tan version on my fair skin and was left with noticeable streaks that took a few days to fade.

revlon beauty picks5. Revlon Colorburst Tease Lacquer Balm #130
Emma Stone was too good of a sales woman in the ad for this lip balm and I ended up walking away with a tube of Revlon Colorburst to try for myself this summer. The crayon shape and light, smooth texture makes it feel more like chapstick than lipstick. It leaves a subtle sheen and light colour that’s perfect for brightening up your face by the pool! The pointed tip allows for more accurate application but it does tend to bleed a little, so I would go no darker than this shade. What surprised me was the tingle it left behind on my lips that acts as a slight lip plumper… Bonus!
