Like most girls, I love a beautiful pair of shoes… but personally, I end up choosing comfort over designer brands any day of the week; after all, you can’t go wrong with a pair of stunning heels that you can dance the night away in pain-free, particularly on your wedding day! With weddings commonly lasting from the wee hours of the morning until the midnight oil is well burnt out, a pair of comfortable heels is a must. But as we all know, style beauty and comfort don’t always come hand in hand, especially when it comes to dressing up your feet. The solution? Custom shoes!
Custom shoes are perfect for brides who have a particular design in mind or want to tweak the colour, material, heel height, toe shape or decorations to match your dress or theme. Gone are the days where brides have to wear plain traditional white or ivory shoes, so why not have some fun with designing your own wedding shoes whilst also ensuring that your feet will last the day in comfort! I was a bride looking for comfortable 3-inch peach peep-toes, so being able to have them custom made saved me a lot of unnecessary headaches.
Think you might want to custom make a pair of shoes for your big day too? Then check out my top three custom wedding shoe stores in Hong Kong. They may be the answer to your prayers!
DYOS – Design Your Own Shoes
A cosy store situated in the heart of Causeway Bay, DYOS is furnished with comfy sofas, pretty chandeliers, glass displays full of different heel types and other shoe parts – the perfect place to treat your feet to something special! Whether you want to want to custom make your shoes completely (where they trace and measure your feet out in detail) or buy their to-order made shoes based on their existing shoe collection and sizes plus a few minor tweaks (e.g. the heel height, fabric, colour or extra cushioning), you’ll definitely be satisfied with your purchase.
For their custom-made option, you should allocate 3 months in total (6-8 weeks for your first fitting and another 3-4 weeks for additional fittings) and for to-order made shoes, you’ll be waiting 6 weeks for your first fitting, so start designing and shopping for your shoes early! The prices at DYOS range from around $700 up to $2000 depending on the design of your shoes.

DYOS Bridal, 1/F, 38-40 Hankow Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Another sweet little affordable shoe find in the heart of Causeway Bay is Heels. With a large collection of shoe styles (you can choose from boots, sandals, platforms, stilettos, ballerina shoes… the list is endless!) and books of leather available for browsing, you can pretty much take a shoe from the store and tweak it any way you’d like. Whilst they don’t trace your feet, they use their standard sizes to ensure which size will be the most comfortable. The prices at Heels range from around $380-600 depending on the style of shoe so if you’re looking for a comfortable pair of shoes to match your wedding day attire without breaking the bank, then Heels is definitely a must-try option. They’re so affordable you could make a test pair first to try it out in advance of your big day!

LIII LIII Shoes
Tucked away in the corner of Admiralty Centre (Sassy tip: Exit A from Admiralty MTR) is a tiny shoe store, LIII LIII Shoes… and don’t be put off by the messy market-like mountains of shoes because this store really a hidden gem. No matter what you have in mind, the Chan brothers will make it from scratch, tracing your feet to get it absolutely perfect, regardless of the number of fittings it takes. You can base your shoes on their existing collection, bring a photo of an existing shoe that takes your fancy, copy one of your existing shoes but in different colours or fabrics, or mix and match – anything you want, they’ll discuss it with you in lengthy detail to get it right! You can even add extra cushioning to make your shoes that little bit more comfortable.
With a turnaround time of two weeks from the first fitting, this is a definite plus for brides who are following a particular timeframe. The prices at LIII LIII Shoes range from around $2000-3000 depending on the design of your shoes.
