The Upper House, a wedding in the heights!

8 December, 2014

Planning a smaller scale wedding, ladies? Maybe The Upper House is for you then. This swanky modern hotel hidden away in Admiralty is an oasis of calm (as its name suggests) above the metropolitan chaos below, designed by the architectural artisan Andre Fu.

There are a few spaces you’ll want to draw your attention to below…

We love this space so much that we actually held our own Sassy Wedding launch event there, so we know it pretty well. This secret garden (complete with real grass – a novelty in the 852) is surrounded by romantically lit hedges for privacy, though remember to look up and see skyscrapers towering above you. At a push, this beautiful area can hold about 70 people for a wedding registry ceremony, however if you’re looking for a unique place for a cocktail reception their lovely team will be able to remove furniture for upwards of 100 guests to celebrate your special day with some special juice. Remember to say hi to Andre for us, ladies!

Thinking of a super intimate wedding? We held our own little fashion show with Trinity Bridal and the sight of our models dressed up in couture and Ellermann florals gliding up the dramatic marble staircase had us in tears. We wouldn’t be surprised if it was the same way for your partner too.

This multi-functional space is used typically for guests who want to relax in a warm, welcoming area with a stunning bird’s view of Hong Kong. However it also moonlights as the perfect space for an indoor wedding ceremony: with high ceilings, a gorgeous interior and a very professional team used to transforming the space for every special occasion. With a somewhat limited entertainment system, maybe forego the technical theatrics however; the space is small enough that you won’t really need a microphone anyways.

Café Gray Deluxe is one of the hottest spots in Hong Kong for a cheeky after work drink or even a decadent meal with Chef Gray Kunz at the helm. With a number of private spaces (or corners, as I was told) available for reservation, you’ll be able to sit down with your loved ones over an incredible meal. Again, this is a better option for smaller scale weddings as space is somewhat limited.

You didn’t think we’d forget about your pics, did you? Head over to the lobby with its gorgeous wooden details for a positively magnetic kiss – heck, we were half tempted to snap a selfie here ourselves!

Perfect for the urban Sassy bride-to-be wanting to combine intimacy and class, The Upper House is a gorgeous option that your guests will want to nab for their own weddings. With amazing delectables, decor and even a cheeky spot of in-room pampering from one of our fave nail ladies at The Nail Library, you and your guests will be absolutely glowing from registry to reception. From the understated drama of their sleek Lawn to the to-die-for architectural elements that’ll make every photograph glitter, this should definitely be a smaller wedding’s port of call.
