Hong Kong is humid. Having moved back from California, my skin is not used to how gross and sticky it can get – especially right before a rainstorm. What’s a girl to do when her skin needs fixing up? Head over to The Face Spa of course!
Previously located in mid-levels, The Face Spa has since moved on to 33 Wellington Street – a super convenient hop, skip and jump away from Sassy HQ! I trust my Sassy reviews, and The Face Spa was highly recommended by the lovely Emma (check out her review here), so I headed over after work for an evening of skin pampering.
My therapist Mingo greeted me at the door, and I immediately noticed the refreshing smell of the waiting room that came from the gorgeous plant-wall installation – which used only real plants!
As I inhaled the fresh air and amazing smell of my lemongrass tea, Mingo explained to me the different facials on offer, and how they can tailor make each treatment on the outcome of your consultation. There are so many different skin types and every girl has different needs!
I opted for their organic facial, which Mingo said she would customise for me to include a microdermabrasion treatment to rid my skin of all the yucky build up – which I definitely needed.
The treatment was done with Eminence products, which are all handmade from Hungary – and smelled amazing. She used a bright skin cleansing milk to take off my makeup and clear my skin of all impurities. Once that was done, she went on to exfoliate and rid my skin of all the build up. Mingo gently let me know that I would feel a tiny sucking sensation on my skin, which wouldn’t hurt – and she was right – the treatment was gentle and surprisingly calming!
After that, she moved on to applying a mask, toning and moisturising my skin. Mingo explained to me that the Linden Calendula treatment she used on me would be calming and good for re-hydrating my skin. And she was right! My skin felt super smooth and hydrated after.
If you pass a stranger in the street who’s strangely caressing her own face and smiling to herself, you’ve most likely just seen me with my gorgeously smooth and glowing skin. All thanks to my appointment at The Face Spa!
