Sassy’s Perfect Summer Dresses

The best attire for when the temps soar is most certainly the summer dress! This easy breezy garment can take you from day to night with barely a pause between (well… maybe just one to change you shoes and bag!). Let’s take a look at this seasons hottest picks!

The Beach Dress

Starting us off on our tour of summer dresses is the most chill of them all… the beach dress! When I see a short white dress I immediately think of beach vacations and hanging out drinking super-fruity overly-decorated cocktails while the sun sets. These options could easily take you from getting your tan on to getting your drink on afterhours! Just add some gold sandals and some boho cool necklaces (like those from hot local label Barnett) and you are set!

While it may be hot outside, the office buildings of Central have never been cooler… Literally, thanks to that Arctic air-conditioning! Here are a few conservative options… because as much as you would like to, you can’t spend every bit of summer by the pool! These pieces would be supremely chic with a pair of nude pumps and a ladylike bag big enough to carry your laptop (try Dooney & Bourke for size!).

The Day Dress

For those days off when you want to wander around with your BFs (best friend or boy friend – you choose!), then these fabulous frocks should fit you flawlessly. Here I chose mostly sleeveless dresses and one heavily printed sleeved number to camouflage any steaminess that may occur once outdoors! And when you are inside, just add a cardi on top to combat the vicious air-cons of HK! All of these choices would be adorable with sandals or a little platform wedge (Steve Madden is calling you!) for walking around town and taking in the sights. I hear the cafés of Gough Street calling!

The Day to Night Dress

It seems that we are always on the go here in HK and what better way to accommodate our crazy schedule then with one do-everything-go-everywhere dress! These dashing dresses can be worn all day and then given a new feel by ditching the cardie, slipping into some beautiful heels, adding some bling (we’re loving new local label Edge Of Ember for that) and introducing a smaller handbag into the mix. Off you go, you social butterfly you!

The Night Dress

Left to right: Thayer, Helmut Lang, Doo.ri; all from www.shopbop.com

Let’s be honest, this city changes in the summertime! The bars have a certain buzz and people flood into the streets drinking (and much more besides!) in the warm weather. So we all need to have a gorgeous gown for hitting the town in! This attire can take us from fab charity cocktails to the very VIP nightclubs and keep us looking incredible all night long! Summer is all about embracing bright colours and showing off that newly acquired tan so don an electric yellow sheer dream, a purple Grecian goddess gown, or an emerald green flowy creation and wow the town!

There are loads of options out there and while I am sure your closet already includes a few, there is always room for more! You can also think about ways to mix up what you currently own with different shoe and accessory combos to bring in current trends – check out my 15/30 Project posts for how to make the most of what you have by switching things up! It’s getting warmer out there, ladies. Shouldn’t you look just as hot!?!
