Sift Dessert Bar in Central – who’s up for a cupcake party?!

As we all know by now, Sassy loves Sifttheir cupcakes, their afternoon tea, their founder… the lot! So when we heard that you could actually host a party at their dessert bar on Graham Street in Central – we were in there quicker than you can say “Red Velvet!

In case you haven’t visited, Sift’s Graham Street venue is not a shop like their other locations (you can’t buy cupcakes to take away, for instance); it’s more a sit-down café with a cool open kitchen, a pleasant, simply decorated indoor area and even a small outside garden space too. For private parties, you can either hire half the venue (indoors or outdoors) or the whole thing… and Sift will provide all the scrummy goodies you need!

For our Sassy get-together, we tried a little bit of everything. Of course, the mini cupcakes were a hit (the Salted Caramel Chocolate and Banana Foster ones were my favourites) but we also loved the mini pastries – the signature Sift Chocolate Cake and the Chocolate Tart were both delicious; non-chocoholics should check out the summery fruity Isaphan and the refreshing zing of the Lemon Meringue Tart… and we haven’t even started on their gorgeous macarons yet!

The best part? Everything is mini so you can try bite-sized morsels of just about everything without feeling too full (and there was a little Sassy debate over whether mini cupcakes might just be better than the real thing!). It also goes without saying that Sift’s presentation is amazing, so expect the first half an hour of any get-together to be taken up with people Instagramming left, right and centre.

I reckon Sift’s Dessert Bar would make an excellent venue for a small birthday party, or a bridal or baby shower; the venue can hold up to around 60 people (or as few as 15 if you prefer things a little more cosy) and still feel spacious, yet it’s intimate enough for you to see and chat with everyone in your party. You can also decorate the space to your heart’s content if you want to add a more personal touch.

So if you’re as fond as cupcakes and confections as we are, then Sift’s dessert bar makes the perfect place for a sweet soireé!

To find out more about private parties at Sift, call 2530 4288; there is a different minimum charge depending on whether your party is on a weekday or the weekend.
