Sassy’s Ultimate Holiday Fair Guide 2013

Surprise, surprise! With all the holiday shopping fairs, bazaars, and pop-up stores opening up across town, it’s clear to see that Christmas is just around the corner. And here at Sassy, we know you don’t want to miss out on any of the pre-holiday fun, so we’ve done the dirty work and made a list of all the events with food, music, shopping, and activities that will guarantee a great day out for everyone. Start marking your diaries ladies, ‘cause here’s our guide to the best seasonal fairs in Hong Kong!

(Psst! We know there are even more fairs out there, so drop us a line if we’ve missed one. And yes, we’ll be checking this list… more than twice!)

03 Island East

ISLAND EAST FARMER’S MARKET
A one-stop shop for some of the best organic locally-produced goodies (co-founded by our very own That Girl Janice!), this market boasts live music, cooking demos and over 40 different stalls selling a variety of food, clothes, accessories and handcrafted goods… look out for special festive happenings at the last market before the Christmas hols!

CONRAD FAIR – THE GIFT & LIFESTYLE FAIR
The first of three fab fairs showcasing gifts galore! You’re spoilt for choice with literally thousands of designer gifts (including Boho Betty, Les Amis and My Friends Wardrobe). ‘Nuff said.

EEZYPEEZYPARTIES CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE

HONG KONG CRICKET CLUB CHRISTMAS FAIRS
The Hong Kong Cricket Club has two festive fairs – the first is a holiday bazaar that’s certain to tick a few gifts off the shopping list; the second is a Christmas Wine & Food Fair for members and their guests only.

When: 12 November, 10am-7pm; 14 November, 6:30-10pm

K-TOWN POP UP SHOP
Twenty Two North is bringing the ultimate pop up shop to Kennedy Town this holiday season! With jewellery for mama, BBQs for papa, lots of cute kiddie clothing for the babes, and even wine suppliers and luxury charter yachts for those with weak spot for all things luxury, this a pop up shop K-Towners would not want to miss!

CHINESE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL BAZAAR
As one of the highlights of the school calendar for the CIS community, this fair is open to the public and filled with vendors, school-organised charity stalls and entertainment for children and parents alike!

SHA TIN COLLEGE & JUNIOR SCHOOL FAIR

When: 16 November, 12pm-6pm

CITY KIDS HKPPA ANNUAL CHRISTMAS FAIR
Expect a fun-filled afternoon complete with arts and crafts activities, a scrummy BBQ and fabulous bake sale, a raffle with loads of great prizes and even some carol singers and Santa himself to get you in the mood! Keep a look out for all your favourite shops, including Mirth and Ricebowl Republic, for some great gifting ideas.

STANLEY FAMILY CARNIVAL
For some good ol’ fashion fun, the Stanley Family Market has the whole family covered with fun games and prizes, live music, bedazzling clowns and magicians, and even a marching band! You’ll be doing a good deed just by going – proceeds from the carnival will benefit the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation and Hong Kong Sea School.

SENSE OF TOUCH CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
If you’re planning on getting the girlfriends jewellery and accessories this holiday season, this Christmas trunk show is the perfect shopping destination for you! Between shopping and nibbling finger foods from Dalikan, Sense of Touch will be providing their signature hand massages for free – simply amazing.

SOOOO FRENCH CHRISTMAS SALE
With five awesome (and obviously French) brands coming together as one team, Soooo French is hosting a Christmas bazaar this year, selling the most chic selection of clothing, jewellery, art, and home décor in town. Girls, get ready to shop for a great cause – a portion of the sales will be donated to Couleurs de Chine, which helps ethnic minority schoolgirls in southern China.

NIGHTFEST AT SOUTH ISLAND SCHOOL
This year, the South Island School is holding an exciting carnival themed winter fair. There will be fabulous market stalls, delicious food, eye-opening street entertainment and much much more!

04 Lamma

LAMMA FUN DAY
This fair makes a difference in the world because it raises funds for The Child Welfare Scheme, a charity that works with underprivileged Nepalese children in improving their lives through education, health and even legal issues such as the prevention of child trafficking. Expect loads of food stalls, music, games and loads of beachside fun.

BAOBAE WINTER BAZAAR
BaoBae have come up with the perfect winter bazaar where little bubs will be busy at the kids corner while grownups enjoy a sip of Coast’s special drinks, yummy nibbles, a raffle, and lots of exclusive deals.

THE PAWN ROOFTOP MARKET
Sassy’s British cuisine favourite– The Pawn – is holding its first ever Rooftop Market! We’ll be able to savour gourmet treats, bring home organic produce, and do some holiday boutique shopping (Kapok’s calling!) for a great cause – to support the St. James Settlement. With kids entertainment on the programme, bring the fam and get shopping!

REPULSE BAY CHRISTMAS FAIR
A great day out and firm favourite amongst the city’s festive fairs, featuring over 50 stalls selling Christmas decorations, ladies accessories, paintings, handicrafts and other great gift ideas – plus a bouncy play area (alas, only for littlies!) and a live band.

When: 24 November, 11am-6pm

CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FAMILY FUN FAIR
While the shopping’s good and there’s a ton to eat and drink, we love the fun hands-on activities at this fair…  And it’s not the run of mill stuff either – think pony rides, a bungee run, sumo wrestling, and a rodeo bull!

When: 24 November, 11am-4pm
Where: Canadian International School, 36 Nam Long Shan Road, Aberdeen, Hong Kong

HANDMADE HONG KONG DB FAIRS
Handmade Hong Kong is hosting its largest outdoor market featuring over 100 vendors in Discovery Bay. With one fair in late-November and another in mid-December, get ready to browse through lots of one-of-a-kind handicrafts before finally making our Christmas present picks!

KEE CLUB HOLIDAY FAIR
An entire day of holiday grooves, mulled wine, mince pies, and Christmas cakes and cookies is waiting for us at Kee Club. Drop by for loads of Christmas shopping and you may even pick up some organic foods for your next dinner party!

CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND AT THE FOUR SEASONS HOTEL
For the most glitz and glam pre-Christmas celebration in town, join the Four Seasons at its tree lighting ceremony, where the fabulous Ms. Coco Lee will be making an appearance, and Christmas Wonderland, filled with a jaw-dropping shopping selection. With vendors such as Jo Malone, Kotur, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and David Yurman and 10% of vendor profits and 100% of ticket sales to be donated to the Cancer Fund – supporting Christmas festivities has never felt so good!

THE POP UP SHOP

LKF POP UP BAZAAR CONTINUES
Shopping never stops for us here at the Kong and we definitely cannot miss this fashionable and fun event at Lan Kwai Fong – especially when it’s for the amazing cause of Women Helping Women. With Sassy fav The Powder Room at this event, sip a glass of wine, enjoy the music, and get shopping ladies!

ITALIAN WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION CHARITY BAZAAR
There are two main attractions here:  ‘Il Mercatino’, a bazaar of Italian products, and the ‘Le Grazie’ restaurant serving authentic Italian dishes prepared by the local Italian community. Tables can be booked, and a delicious meal enjoyed, at a minimal cost! Entering into its 30th year, the event will continue to donate all proceeds to the Duchess of Kent Hospital, which specialises in orthopaedics, neurology and degenerative diseases.

FIS 01

FIS TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS FAIR – MARCHE DE NOEL
A traditional holiday fair with a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’.  Already at its 50th anniversary, this fair has something for everyone – shopping, music, food, and a Wonderland for kids! With more than 50 stands, you’ll find all your holiday goodies here (gifts, décor, and even Christmas trees – you name it and they’ve got it). We can already hear the sleigh bells ring!

ISLAND SCHOOL CHRISTMAS FAIR
Loads of stalls selling books, clothes and other gifts, a food hall dishing up homemade delicacies from countries around the world plus entertainment throughout the day.

HONG KONG COUNTRY CLUB CHRISTMAS FAIR
Another stalwart of the festive fair season, vendors will be selling jewellery, accessories, clothes, toys, crafts and other Christmas gifts. A jazz band will also be playing throughout the day to keep your festive spirits high! Please note – members and guests only.

When: 8 December, 11am–5pm

MADE IN HK BY GREEN QUEEN: LOCAL ARTISANS POP UP MARKET
Ladies, let’s buy local this holiday season! At this pop-up market, foodies will have a blast tasting delicious ready-made dishes, picking up locally grown groceries and buying lots of unique handmade gifts for the friends and fam.

CONRAD FAIR – CHRISTMAS GIFT FESTIVAL
The final instalment of this grande dame of HK holiday fairs, here you find literally everything under the sun for everyone on your list (and a few things for you too!), including vintage jewellery from Powder Room, adorable children’s wear from Les Enfantines and Aromatherapy Associates skincare.

GLAMOURPODS CHRISTMAS POP-UP
Online designer jewellery shop Glamourpods is holding a pop-up shop right in time for Christmas! They’ll have everything from affordable stocking fillers to pretty holiday gifts. With the jewellery designers present at the event, it’s a great opportunity to meet these amazing designers and check out all the goodies in person!

BLIZTEN’S BAZAAR
We can never get enough of the traditional Christmas decorations and music – that’s why this traditional Christmas fair is telling us to have a merry little Christmas with lots of Christmas shopping (think kids clothes, jewellery, stocking stuffers, and lots more) and The Space decked out in festive décor.

AME GALLERY XMAS BAZAAR
With the clock ticking on that increasingly long Christmas list, the AME Gallery Xmas Bazaar will be the perfect place to start shopping! To get started, there will be complimentary mulled wine and five fabulous vendors set up to take your gift shopping stress away. And to make you feel even better, part of the proceeds will go to the Hong Kong Refugee Center – we’re in!

SUN STREET MARKETS, PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY MIELE
As part of the Very Hong Kong festivities, an initiative to celebrate the city’s special mix of culture, heritage, cosmopolitan lifestyle, the public space of our favourite classy meets hipster hangout – the Star Street Precinct – will transformed into a lively pop-up market for just one day. Artisanal food and beverages – here we come!

CYBERPORT WEEKEND HARVEST BAZAAR
A fun-filled fair with over 60 booths, offering exotic handicrafts, organic food, clothes, handmade skincare products and virtually everything else you can think of!  You can enjoy creative farming and up-cycling workshops or even kick back for free movie on the outdoor cinema screen (snack pack included!).
