Sari shopping at Sanskrit – unleash your inner Bollywood star!

6 March, 2012

I have always been enthralled with India. In 2008, I finally got the chance to go and explore some of what this incredible country has to offer and to this day, that was one of the best trips I have ever taken…. though it could also have something to do with the fact that I got engaged there as well!

When Sanskrit on Lyndhurst Terrace invited Sassy by to take a peek at the latest collection and try on their stunning saris, I jumped at the chance. This shop always has the most intricate and elaborate creations and I thought that, just maybe, I would get to relive a little of the magic of India that I remember so fondly!

I tried on several outfits complete with jewellery and bedazzled flats. The embroidered fabric was insanely beautiful and was dripping in rhinestones and embellishments. It is hard not to feel like a Bollywood star while wearing these pieces! The best part was that you don’t event have to be trained in the art of sari wrapping. You simply zip the garment up the side and you are ready for a night of dancing and dining!

(Check out our lovely That Girl Jasmine trying on some fab saris too!)

Owner Komal Mirchandani can guide you through the vast collection and help you select the most appropriate attire for your upcoming event. She will also register your garment so that no one else at the event will be wearing the same thing! Sanskrit can also do bespoke designs in case you really need to be glammed up to the nines in a one-of-a-kind. Don’t forget to encrust yourself with all the jingly jewels that can cover every digit and spare spot of skin!

Hong Kong recently hosted the Zee Cine Awards at the Venetian in Macau.  These awards honour all that is excellent in the billion-dollar Indian film industry and the Zee Cine Awards is known as the World’s Biggest Viewers’ Choice Award show! This year’s ceremony was hosted by two of the most well known Bollywood superstars, the “King of Bollywood”, Shah Rukh Khan, and former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra. There were also performances by Katrina Kaif, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor.

So next time you have an Indian event to go to or fancy being a bit different and sporting a super-glam sari at your next party, be sure to head over to Sanskrit where they can outfit you head to toe! They also have beautiful kaftans and tunics that are perfect for your next beach holiday. No matter what you choose I am sure you will feel like breaking into song and dance… Who knows maybe everyone else will join in just like in the movies!
