Our Louis & Co haircuts

8 April, 2010

You voted for the winning looks and we promised that we would go through with it and now we have the video (see below) and pics to prove it!

Our big cuts were last Wednesday and that morning I received an email from Natalie saying how much she was looking forward to spending the day filming our hair transformations at Louis & Co. I thought to myself, of course you are excited you don’t have to get your hair chopped off into a blunt fringe without any say in the matter! In a way though, I am glad the Sassy readers made the choice for me because I would have debated over and over for ages as to whether I should take a chance on a new look and it probably never would have happened… so thank you!

Hester and I arrived at Louis & Co. with a mixture of excitement and complete nervousness. Luckily we were already comfortable with our hair stylists and pretty much trusted what they were doing but I have to say my leg did not stop fidgeting throughout the entire 3 hour process. It was the first time I was dying my hair and for Hester she had to say goodbye to the blonde shade that she (and her husband) loved.

It was fun spending the day at the salon. I mean, who doesn’t love chatting with friends and reading magazines while someone makes your hair look beautiful. After a few hours our final looks were revealed and we were (thankfully) happy with the outcome. Hester was relieved that they didn’t make her a complete redhead (just a few ginger highlights here and there) and I am loving my new fringe. On the day I thought I would be more likely to wear them side swept but now seeing the pics and my husband’s reaction to the blunt fridge I am going to be sporting them straight down for sure. I even went in yesterday to get a Brazilian Blow Dry to help keep the frizz away since the humidity is known to be a disaster for any girl with a fringe. The one thing we have both learned from this process though is that red fades the fastest when it comes to colour. There is already a difference in our red hair colour between now and last Wednesday so if you are going red just be prepared that it won’t last as long as other hair dyes.

All in all this was such a great experience for us. It was so fun tracking the votes and seeing what styles you think would look best on us. We are now trying to convince Natalie to do the same thing and I think she may crack soon! Hope you enjoy the great video she put together. This is the first of many video blogs she will be creating for Sassy!
