Eat & Drink, What's On HK

On The Sassy Radar – Sandro & Maje hit ifc, Mist Pizzeria & Rasupermen, LAB Made and more!

4 September, 2012

Our On The Sassy Radar is back for September – a bite-sized scoop on our top ten finds in the world of fashion, food, music, books… you get the idea! This month, we’ve got a some fab French chic, Mist Ramen’s hot new restaurants, Jimmy Choo sunglasses, liquid nitrogen ice-cream and much more…

Hot on the heels of Spain’s Uterque hitting ifc, more fab European fashion is heading HK’s way! Bringing effortless Parisian style to our shores (thanks to Rue Madame for paving the way!), French favourites Sandro and Maje are both opening their very first HK flagships in ifc too. Prepare yourself for cool chic contemporary looks that will make great additions to any wardrobe, at prices that won’t break the bank either.

Lab Made, Hong Kong’s first liquid nitrogen ice cream parlour, opened last month and the queues are out the door. By blending fresh ingredients and freezing it with liquid nitrogen at -196°C, this is the smoothest ice cream in the city. With four flavours that change every two weeks and no preservatives, the only downside is that it melts fast, so this is an eat on the spot experience. Sassy’s flavour? Purple rice. Look out for the full review here soon!

Sad about Mist in Causeway Bay biting the dust? Never fear, the folks behind the Michelin-starred ramen house are back… with not one, but two new eateries to tempt your tastebuds! They’ve transplanted everything you loved about Mist to their new quirky Rasupermen resto in Hysan Place, plus they’ve also hopped onto the pizza bandwagon with cool neighbourhood hang-out Mist Pizzeria. Can their more artisanal pizzas give Paisano’s and Pizzeria Pubblico a run for their money? We can’t wait to find out!

One of the most annoying things about toting a clutch bag for anything other than evening, is that it’s impossible to get all your fashion essentials inside. But now with the fabulous foldaway Lana Sunglasses from Jimmy Choo, there is no excuse for squinting into the sun.

Unreal Candy recreates our favourite sweet treats like peanut butter cups with natural sustainably produced alternatives that exclude corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, artificial colours and all the junk. They’re sold in the States in RiteAid, CVS, Walgreens and Ralphs, with sugar content reduced by an average of over 40%. Someone bring these to Hong Kong please!
