New York Fashion Week Favourites

17 February, 2010

Some of my favourites so far from (left to right) Erin Featherston, Jill Stuart and Marc Jacobs. I just love pretty much anything that Erin Featherston does – her designs are just so feminine and romantic, and I think she is just so cute! I love tartan for winter a la Jill Stuart worn with killer over-the-knee boots. Apart from the Jill Stuart show, seems like hemlines (and heel heights) are definitely coming down in general for next winter. After a summer with our pins on show, I’m sure we’ll all be grateful! Another HUGE trend seems to be the use of fur as at Marc Jacobs. Marc Jacobs has always been a big user of fur, but in this collection he really went to town. I think we can agree that faking it is a far better alternative, and it was surprising how little comment there has been so far about the number of fur pieces on show this season.

Another big trend that we can pull from New York? A real lack of fun popping colour as shades of grey dominated.

It’s always fun to get a fresh burst of inspiration for the next winter when the weather currently is so wintery – I’m glad we only have a few more weeks (hopefully!) of this cold though before we can start on the pastel fripperies of Spring.
