Lola’s Ice Pops – chill out with some fab frozen treats

3 June, 2013

Allow us to introduce you to Team Sassy’s latest obsession – Lola’s Ice Pops!

Ever since we first spotted them at Island East Markets, it’s been a case of love at first bite… and we were so excited that we simply had to ask them along to our recent Sassy Mama Marketplace, where they created some fab new flavours just for us (and even children’s food guru Annabel Karmel was spotted buying one!).

Made from natural ingredients with no icky chemical additives (yep, that fruity flavour comes from… fruit!) and all made totally fresh on the day, Lola’s was created by three local mums who wanted to bring artisan ice pops to HK. With their cute retro packaging and utterly delicious flavours (we’re talking chocolate banana, lemongrass ginger iced tea, mango cheescake, and blueberry coconut mint – and new conconctions probably being invented as we speak), we’re predicting big arguments at our place over who exactly ate the last one.

Whether you’re in the mood for light and refreshing or indulgently creamy, there’s something for everyone – and all just in time for HK’s hot and humid summers. Sassy’s tried and tested faves include watermelon basil (ultra refreshing), mango lassi (summer on a stick!) and chocolate with homemade brownie bites (I was supposed to be saving this one for my boyfriend… needless to say, he never even got a lick of the thing!). We love supporting local businesses – and when they’re this delicious, there really is no excuse not to get in on the action.

You can catch Lola’s Ice Pops at Saffron Bakery in Stanley, The Bottle Shop in Sai Kung and various pop-up shops and markets all over town (where they typically sell for $30 each – just get there early as they always sell out!) or stock up via their website with batches of 10. With both grown-up and wee sizes on offer, they’re not going to ruin mealtime appetites, regardless of whether you’re 3 or *ahem* 33. We’re already calculating quite how many orders we can get through here at Sassy HQ this summer!

Keep updated on where to find Lola’s via their Facebook Page or buy via their website here.
