Siem Reap in Cambodia – the gateway to the ruins of Angkor Wat – is absolutely charming and Heritage Suites is a chic little boutique hotel around 8km from the temple complex. There’s nothing like looking back over 1,000 years of history to give you a bit of perspective on life and the ruins are absolutely magical.
A warm and friendly colonial-era house which has been converted into a hotel, Heritage Suites is nevertheless contemporary and modern: dark woods contrast with bright Cambodian colours, modern furniture and cool amenities such as rolltop baths and open-air showers in the Bungalow Suites. If you really feel like making a splash, opt for the Red Poppy Royal Suite and you’ll have your own suite with a private garden and outdoor Jacuzzi.
With just 26 rooms and a saltwater swimming pool, the hotel also has its own spa, which has a fantastic range of reasonable treatments and massages (a 90-minute massage is around HKD 360). It’s a wonderful to come to back to the cool, calm and relaxing peace of Heritage Suites after a busy day out and about in a tuk tuk!
The location is a bit secluded (though this makes it nice, quiet and calm), though the market is only 5 minutes’ away. Don’t forget to book in the complimentary airport transfer service when you land to get your bearings.
Deluxe rooms from USD 200 per room per night including breakfast and airport transfers; summer rates from USD 140 per room.
