Sassy Review: Get your glow on with Giorgio Armani’s Spring Palette

17 April, 2012

The sun is shining, temperatures are rising and Team Sassy has their sunnies out, which can only mean one thing (of course, now it’s pouring down with rain… typical!) โ€“ summer is round the corner! This means a whole new wardrobeโ€ฆ not just for your clothes, but your make-up tooโ€ฆ and as a beauty junkie, let me take this opportunity to remind you to get your mitts on the last of springโ€™s delights at the beauty counters before theyโ€™re gone for good!

Giorgio Armaniโ€™s beauty division brought out a gorgeous spring collection that you do not want to miss out on โ€“ and Iโ€™m pretty sure Iโ€™ll find myself digging out their Spring 2012 Eye Palette ($450) all the way through summer too.

I tried Palette 2, which consists of a range of glimmering metallics (Palette 1 is the more typical spring pastels), and it turned out to be the perfect palette for getting your glow on! With strips of four eye shadows โ€“ a light grey-gold, a moonlight silver, a rose-copper and a copper-brown โ€“ handily enclosed in one highly-convenient small classy black case, itโ€™s also perfect for slinging in your bag for day trips out or weekends away.

I absolutely loved the bottom two shades โ€“ they were super-soft, extremely pigmented and simply beautiful colours, ideal for creating stunning shimmering eyes to set off a sun-kissed look. The first copper had a really unusual pretty gold-rose cast to it, whilst the second is a more typical browny-copper, but both had oodles of glimmer and glow to them. The top two were a little less impressive โ€“ not exceptionally pigmented and the cool grey of the silver seemed an odd companion to the other warm gold tones โ€“ but they work nicely as highlighters for the brow-bone.

Whilst Megan Fox shows you how to steam things up for a sultry bronzed evening look, my look created with the palette is a little more daytime appropriate. Itโ€™s a little more on the light au naturel side and warmer tones aren’t generally my best friend but trust me, it looked super pretty in person โ€“ especially so sparkling in the summer sun! I recommend you use a little of the rose-copper colour on your lower lash line for an extra gorgeous glint.

So before the make-up counters are deluged by buckets of bronzers and summer brights galore, make sure you pick up Giorgio Armaniโ€™s Spring Palette and get your glow on!
