Here at Sassy we love discovering new home-grown fashion talent, so we got very excited about being invited to the recent launch of Fifi, a label offering glamorous day and occasionwear but with that all important edge. The design duo behind Fifi are Fiona Sobek and Josie Holyoak, two friends originally from the UK who have made it their mission to shake up the HK fashion scene and plug the gap in the affordable fashion market.
The launch was held on the roof terrace at the Fringe Club and showcased “Love In Idleness”, Fifi’s current S/S 2012 collection. The scene was set for a midsummer’s evening garden party with twinkling fairy lights, cascading ivy, lilies galore, all in preparation for the models to strut their stuff on the rooftop catwalk.
The creative duo themselves, Josie Holyoak and Fiona Sobek both in Fifi (Josie wears snakeskin maxi $2600 and Fi wears blush embellished dress $2600)
Rather than professional models, Fifi chose to use friends to run the catwalk – proving that real women can wear their designs and that “Love in Idleness” has something to offer all women whatever their shape, height, size. All you need is a love for fashion!
With the mercury on the rise, Fifi choose luxurious but breathable fabrics, like this silk floral maxi for $2400, silk floral ruffle top $1400 with white shorts $950 and tropical print maxi in burnished silk $2600.
The collection definitely shrieks glamour which we LOVE but in very wearable and flattering designs as you can see from the cut of the maxis and the flowing tops. See this snakeskin embellished top is $1200hkd (shorts as above), floral playsuit $1600, and silver & white stripe top with embellished shoulder detail $850 and the fitted dress with lace overlay $1800.
Here are a few of my other fave looks from Fifi’s inaugural SS12 Collection:
So take a bow for a good job well done, ladies… and here’s to plenty of fab Fifi frocks making their way into Hong Kong wardrobes this summer!
