Champagne Challenge – 25 May at Otto Lounge

19 May, 2010

I love, love, love champagne and on several occasions I have banned myself from it after going a bit overboard. I somehow don’t seem to quite get the whole concept of moderation when it comes to the bubbles. Luckily, I am not on a self induced ban at the moment so I am very much looking forward to the Champagne Challenge on 25 May from 7pm-9pm at Otto Lounge which is hosted by VinoCulture. Below is the official invite from VinoCulture and make sure you continue reading for a special Sassy discount on the ticket price!

We all love champagne; it’s the ultimate symbol of celebration, and the big champagne brands from France do their best to keep it that way. But as much as we love the house styles of Moet or Veuve, how many among us could tell the difference without seeing the bottle? How much of the champagne experience is true quality and how much is clever marketing?

At this exclusive event, in partnership with Boutique Wines – The Champagne House, we put your nose and taste-buds to the test, with Moet & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin up against three lesser known but still exquisite champagnes in the ultimate blind tasting.  The champagne will be poured for you and there will be no peaking at the bottle. Each attendee will have a chance to taste and rate these fine wines and at the end, we see what you think is the best!  After all, wine is about the personal experience, not the billboard marketing.

The 5 champagnes you will taste are:
Michel Arnould Tradition Grand Cru NV
Launois Cuvee Reserve NV
Diebolt-Vallois Brut Tradition NV
Moet & Chandon
Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin

Of course if you like these lesser known gems, Boutique Wines – The Champagne House will be available to sell you the wines at distributor prices!

Exclusive Lucky Draw Prizes at the end of the night including a bottle of champagne and a private wine tasting for 8.
