Beauty Advice Asia and Sozo Hair Design: an all in one beauty arsenal

16 August, 2014

This all-in one modern hair, make-up and nail stop is located in the heart of central and in true Hong Kong fashion, you have to look up to find it! Here you’ll find beauty guru Patrick Havegheer (who just so happens to be fluent in English, French and Italian- crazy!) and the equally as talented Senior Hair Stylist Michiko who speaks Japanese and English.

Teaming up with some of Hong Kong’s chic hair boutiques, Patrick Havegheer, founder of Beauty Advice Asia, has hand picked and brought a collection of face and beauty products to Hong Kong. He was the make up artist and trainer for Versace Make up and later the Yves Saint Laurent spokesperson, international make up artist and trainer. It’s no wonder this multi-lingual and talented professional has decided to take his career to our city of beauty and fashion.

His goal for setting up in Hong Kong? To share his knowledge and bring the best make up and skin care products to the HK clientele. He has more than 15-years of experience across the globe working with every skin type and selecting the best, organic skin care and make up products.

Before and after

The natural light flooding through the floor to ceiling windows on this Wyndam Street salon is the perfect pampering chill-out spot with its chic neutral decor and comfy leather chairs. They’ll even sit you down with a cup of coffee, tea or bubbles as you they work their magic! Patrick set me up at his station in Sozo Hair Design and cleansed my face with a Face-Esse, a microderm exfoliator from South Africa. It felt like I had just been given a facial, but without that oily feeling that normally makes my face break out. He followed with an all-natural organic sunscreen called Coola, which is lightweight and doubles as a moisturizer for the wash-and-go girl. I am absolutely hooked and have since gone back to get my hands on more Coola products at Sozo too!

Skincare is essential for Patrick – make-up comes second. He explains, “If the skin is glowing, make-up enhances beautiful skin.”

With his passion for skincare, it was no surprise that he had my skin aglow in minutes! Patrick studied my skin for any uneven colouring and evened out my eyebrows. It was like a facial and brow touch up all-in-one, followed by make-up that made me feel like a brighter version of myself. I still don’t think I could get used to wearing fake lashes or putting them on myself though.

After my make-up was done, it was time to tame my tresses with Michiko. She hails from Japan and joined the Sozo team in 2013- she does it all, up-dos, cuts and colouring! Michiko has more than fifteen years of hair design experience and her sweet personality made for a fun morning at the studio.

She helped me lighten my hair and the colour was a perfect first step to getting wedding ready. I’m an island girl through and through so I’m in the sun and in the sea a lot, which wreaks havoc on my hair. Under Michiko’s stellar advice to keep my hairdo gorgeous for even longer, I went for a darker colour that would lighten with a few washes.
